Over a hundred racers thundered down the drag strip at the Super Chevy Show this weekend in their Chevy powered cars for bragging rights and cash prizes. On the first day of racing in the final round Scott Alexs from Delray Beach, Fla. came out on top in his ’72 Chevy Nova at 12.236 at 109.82 mph. Gary Coy from Lake Worth, Fla. finished in second place for the day in his ’77 Corvette at 10.799 running at 125.04 mph. JP Hickmon from Bradenton, Fla. in his ’08 Mullis came in first in the first day of “Box” racing running at a 7.624 at 170 mph, with Skip Pellett from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. in second running a 7.962 at 160.65 mph.
In the final day of racing in the DriveDuracell.com bracket, Bruce Liberman from West Palm Beach, Fla. finished in first in his Spitzer running a 7.678 at 175 mph. Claude DeBonis from Fort Lauderdale finished in second place in his ’08 Worthy running a 7.430 at 176 mph.
To close out the final races at the Super Chevy Show in the second bracket, Rob Reynolds from Melbourne, Fla. in his ’78 Chevy Malibu finished in first running a 10.241 at 122 mph. Casey Miles from Boca Raton, Fla. finished in second place in his ’01 Corvette running a 13.455 at 105 mph.
Wayne Farguhar from Monson, MA took first place in the Camaro 5th Gen. Challenge racing his ’13 Camaro running at 15.669 at 75 mph. Paige Munneke from Stuart, Fla. finished in second place in his ’10 Camaro running a 14.878 at 91 mph.
Super Chevy Show Car Show Winners:
Out of the Super Chevy Magazine’s Top 10 Editor’s Choice Show Car winners, the number one pick was Gerald Copeland who displayed his ’62 Corvette. In second place was Stathe Karahalios in his ’60 Chevy Impala.
