Palm Beach International Raceway plays host to Historic Sports Car Racing (HSR) on Thursday, February 5 through Sunday, February 8, 2009. After a complete renovation to the 2-mile road course, HSR takes to the track for fast-pasted, wheel-to-wheel racing.Â
The competition is divided into groups according to make of the race car, along with the engine size. The featured race for the weekend is the B.O.S.S. Series featuring Indy cars, Indy Lights, Formula 1, Formula 3000, Formula 2 and Atlantic race cars from 1986 or a previous year. Drivers compete for the Emerson Fittipaldi Trophy.
Additional event feature is the historic formula cars from the 1970's that include Formula Atlantic, F5000 and Formula 1.
"This is the first time I have raced this car," stated Edward Lane who races his 2-Liter, 1969, 911 Porsche under the Klub Sport banner. "I raced on the track when it was Moroso (Motorsports Park). Comparing the two tracks, this one is much better. It is real smooth."Â
HSR has 100-plus entries for this weekend event and is open to spectators. It is old-fashion fun for the whole family. Enjoy great cars, from the past with fun for today!
