JUPITER, FL – May 9, 2011 – Palm Beach International Raceway served as host for the Spring Nationals Monster Truck and Motorsports Spectacular on May 6-7, 2011. The two night show featured amazing tricks and stunts from Monster Trucks and the FMX Freestyle Motorcycle team.
Each show started with heart pounding tricks from the three FMX Freestyle Motorcycle riders – Kyle Ives, Jerry Jackson and Slade Waltman. All three riders took flight on the Palm Beach International Raceway drag strip. Each trick was more dangerous than the next. As the crowds cheered louder for the riders, they moved the launch ramps further apart. The ramps were approximately 50 feet apart at the start of the show and lengthened to 70 feet for the final tricks.
Following the FMX Freestyle Motorcycle riders were the Monster Truck drivers. Chris Ryan drove Ground Pounder alongside teammate Chris Lagana in Michigan Ice Monster. Zach Albert was the lone Ford of the group in the Defender Monster Truck. Georgia resident Bennett Clark, one of the legends of Monster Truck racing brought Clydesdale to PBIR while Jim Jack was one of the fan favorites with his venom-spraying Reptoid Monster Truck.
The Monster Trucks impressed the crowds on Friday and Saturday by crushing cars, performing vertical jumps, making freestyle runs and popping wheelies. Fans cheered on their favorite trucks during the two-night show.
“Many thanks to the Monster Truck drivers and FMX Freestyle Motorcycle team for their performances this weekend,” said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO, Palm Beach International Raceway. “Special thanks to the fans for coming to PBIR for the first Monster Truck event.”
Track officials conducted preliminary inspection of the drag strip surface on Friday and Saturday nights. A full drag strip inspection will be conducted to ensure the track is safe and race-ready for the weekly Wednesday Test and Tune.
