Palm Beach Grand Prix and Speed Festival Coming to PBIR this weekend!
Tuesday, 18 January 2011 14:38

PBGP_logo_v2The Palm Beach Grand Prix and Speed Festival will be held at Palm Beach International Raceway  February 11 through 13. The three day, facility-wide motorsports event will feature Historic Sportscar Road Racing (HSR), car shows, a supercar shootout and drag racing.

Friday will begin with HSR practice and feature a night enduro race. Saturday will be a full day of events including HSR qualifying and racing. The Speed Festival will also be held on Saturday with a Supercar Shootout and display. The highlight of the day will be the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Porsche’s win of the 1951 Palm Beach Grand Prix. Saturday evening rides will be given around the two-mile, 11-turn road course and all proceeds will be given to charity.

“It is great to start the 2011 HSR season at Palm Beach International Raceway,” said Ken Fengler, Vice President of Race Operations for HSR. “We look forward to working with the new PBIR management team and being a part of the Grand Prix weekend.”

HSR road racing will again be on the road course on Sunday for the running of the Palm Beach Grand Prix. The Palm Beach International British Car Show featuring the 50th anniversary Jaguar E-type will be Sunday. On the drag strip side, Hot Rod Sunday will be held with drag racing and a car show.

“We are excited to have the HSR series as the feature of the Palm Beach Grand Prix,” said PBIR President Jason Rittenberry. “HSR offers an exciting field and a variety of cars with great racing. We’ve made changes since the last time the HSR competitors have been to the facility. It should be a very enjoyable weekend of racing for fans and the competitors.”

A variety of newly added spectator viewing areas will be available for this event. Spectator full event admission is $45. Friday only admission is $15 Saturday only admission is $25 and Sunday only admission is $25. Juniors 12 years old and under are free.
