Palm Beach International Raceway is set to have another busy season of racing activity in 2011.
Things get rolling on the road course with the 19th annual gathering of Ferrari’s for the Cavallino Classic January 18-22. The drag strip kicks the season off in a big way on January 28 and 29 with the return of IHRA’s Nitro Jam.
On February 4, the “Pro Winter Warm-up” is sure to turn heads as a group of top-20 professional drag racers compete side-by-side in pre-season test sessions. The event will feature a shootout between the low elapsed time Top Fuel dragster and Funny Car.
A three day motorsports festival is set for February 11-13. The Palm Beach Grand Prix and Speed Festival will feature the Historic Sportscar Racing group, SuperCar Shootout and the Palm Beach International British Car Show. Hot Rod Sunday will make its return to the drag strip on February 13 as part of the Speed Festival. The Florida Winter Tour makes a comeback to the MRP Motorsport Kart Center at PBIR February 16-20.
In April, the Super Chevy Show returns to PBIR with high expectations. The show is kicking off their season at PBIR and will feature a swap meet, drag racing, marketplace and an autocross. April 15-16 marks the first time the ADRL, a popular drag racing series, comes to PBIR. The Monster Truck Spectacular will make its debut at PBIR on May 4 and 5. The show features monster trucks side-by-side car jumping and crushing. The event also features freestyle motocross activities. The “Night of Fire Jet Jam” will take to the drag strip May 28, featuring a jet car shootout and fireworks.
In July, PBIR will be hosting “VW’s Under the Palms” as Volkswagens of all kinds take over the drag strip. August marks the return on of another Hot Rod Sunday on the 14. Action heats up in September for a two-day Ford Power Fest and Burnout BBQ Cook off on the 17-18.
IHRA kicks off the month of October with their exciting Thunder Jam event. As it has been for years, PBIR is the drag racing hot spot in November with the 5-Day Bracket Championships and the 30th Annual Citrus Nationals.
NSCRA, Kwik Rick Outlaw Drags, SCCA and NASA will all be returning with multiple events in 2011. The full 2011 schedule can be viewed online at www.racepbir.com.

We learned a lot in 2010 and we’ve made some adjustments to events for next year and I can’t wait to see how things work out.
