"175 lap event, Rotax Senior engines only, prize money"
West Palm Beach, Florida - The staff at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR), are pleased to announce the 175 lap Rotax enduro race. With the event taking place on Sunday, October 25th, a set of rules are coming together and the event is shaping up to be one of the best enduro events next to the famed Robopong.
"I think Mark Dismore and the guys at New Castle Motorsports Park run an awesome event, and I have competed in the event for the past three years," expressed Firestone Indy Lights Champion and PBIR Karting Manager Jay Howard. "The Robopong is the largest and best race of the year. I want to do something similar at PBIR for the local karting community but attract some professional race car drivers and top karters from around the country to compete."
Howard went on to say, "We are only allowing the use of Rotax Senior engines as we look to focus on the huge Rotax market here at our facility and in Florida."
Some of the final details of the event are still coming together but the below list outlines some of the basic rules for the endurance event:
Rotax Senior engines only Weight for kart and driver will be 380 lbs. 175 lap endurance same utilizing similar rules to the New Castle Motorsports Park Robopong event A minimum of two drivers per team A minimum of three pit stops is mandatory Driver's age must be minimum of 13 years old by October 1, 2009 Spec fuel, oil and approved gas cans will be offered at the event The spec tires will be 4.50/7.10 Mojo tires Event will be run under complete Rotax regulations unless otherwise noted. With a full day of practice slated for Saturday, qualifying will take place late Saturday afternoon in preparation for Sunday's festivities.
"We have had several professional drivers already commit to doing the race," explained Howard from the PBIR facility in Jupiter, Florida. "We will have several more announcements in the coming weeks with the prize package, a complete set of rules as well as the much anticipated list of pro drivers attending."
