JUPITER, FL – April 2, 2011 – Palm Beach International Raceway hosted three successful events on the first weekend of April – the weekly Friday night Test and Tune, Saturday’s Southern Hot Rod Association (SHRA) Heads-Up Shootout event and the Florida Region Sports Car Club of America races.
As a preview for Saturday’s SHRA event, Friday night’s Test and Tune featured some of the best of the SHRA series regulars making a few last minute adjustments before Saturday’s race.
Saturday afternoon brought more than 100 racers to PBIR’s drag strip for two rounds of qualifying and eliminations.Competition was fierce both on- and off- the race track as the Battle of the Bands entertained the crowd in between rounds.
“We had great weather for today’s SHRA and SCCA events at PBIR,” said Chris McMahan, Director of Race Operations, Palm Beach International Raceway. “Today’s racers had positive attitudes about the events and put on a great show for the fans. The races today were a great start to all the April events we are hosting at PBIR. We’re looking forward to next weekends’ Super Chevy Show and the ADRL event in two weeks.”
During the SCCA event on PBIR’s road course, nearly 250 racers competed in the SCCA South Atlantic Road Racing Championships (SARRC), Tropical Endurance Series (TES), and Florida Endurance Series (FES).
The next event at Palm Beach International Raceway is the Super Chevy Show, scheduled for April 8-10. PBIR hosts Chevys from all eras throughout the entire property as the southern Florida track kicks off the 31st year of the Super Chevy Show Series presented by GM Performance Division and presented locally by Schumacher Chevrolet.
