JUPITER, Fla. - - Palm Beach International Raceway hosted the Jon Smith Subs Champions of the Future race at the PBIR Kart Track for the first ever night race.
On Friday, June 19, the three day event began with a practice session on the 7/10-mile track. By Saturday, the entry list for the event had grown including, karters competing in the series for the first time.
In addition to the first-time competitors, the Jon Smith Subs Champions of the Future had some top-drivers
in karting including: David Formal, Jarvis Gennari, Andre Martin, Jordon Perry, Michael Riolo and Justin Wood.
Martin is the president of Tony Kart USA and just returned from racing in Belgium at the last round of WSK at the Genk facility to compete at the PBIR night opener. Martin raced on the official Tony Kart team in the KZ2 category.
"I was really pleased with the turn out for this first night race," stated Jay Howard, PBIR President of Karting. "It was a huge success and the competition was great."
The event concluded with Michael Riolo, Jordan Perry, Ryan Rupp, Jarvis Gennari and Daniel Formal as the winners their respective classes.
