Friday, 01 May 2009 06:26

090430_jetJupiter, Fla. - The Top Gun Shootout presented by Driven To Win Drag Racing School awarded drivers over $25,000.00 in cash and prizes.

On Saturday, the racing began with the Palm Beach International Raceway E/T Bracket Series and continued into the night with the 1st Qualifier for Sundays Top Gun Shootout main event. After the 1st qualifier the Joel Harris wheel stander ran the ¼ mile on 2 wheels and was followed by the Glory Days and Twisted Air jet cars. The evening ended with a 2nd Qualifier for the Top Gun classes, which included Quick 32, Quick 16, Heads Up 6.50, Outlaw 10.5, Pro Street and Super Quick B1.

On Sunday, the event began with a 3rd and 4th Qualifier for all Top Gun classes. Then, eliminations began and all classes were called to the lanes to battle for the Top Gun Shootout payouts and trophies. The racing was close as the rounds clicked away. Buy backs and Mulligan's were the talk as the nights events rolled on. Spectators were not only glued to the fast cars, but were once again treated to 2 rounds of jet cars and a wheel stander.

After the last rounds were made it was time for the finals! The winners in the classes included: Matt Buck of Lantana, Fla., in the quick 32 class, Steve Kopecy of North Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in the heads Up 6.50 class, Matt Salminen of Port Charlotte, Fla., in the Outlaw 10.5 class, Rey Chavez of Miami Lakes, Fla., in the Pro Street class, Ron Raymond of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in the Super Quick B1 class. The night ended with Bruce Liberman taking the win in Quick 16.
